    Dear Evinrude dealers

In order to fullfil our commitment to provide with a complete line of Evinrude engines, we are pleased to inform you that BRP has signed an agreement with Tohatsu Corporation to supply us as early as 2012 with a range of four-stroke engines from 3.5 to 15 hp.....

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Bad enough we have to peddle Tohatsury garbage now we have to deal with Tohatrudes...... Mercurys versions suck bad enough, I can't wait for these... dammit. At least 75% of our customers regret badly "trading up" to these crap motors from those sweet 6-15 two cylinders each brand made for eons.... bah.

Damn. Although this will make my mint 1998 15 all the more valuable.

Does this mean they are giving up on the small Etecs?

My buddy and I have been hoarding every last bolt and screw for 9.9 and 15's for the past few years. There is no problem selling them for some pretty damn good money. Latley all I've been doing is apologizing for the running quality of these new motors, especially the single cylinder models people use on small sail boats that rattles the rigging to no end.

Meh the Tohatsus are probably cheaper. Too bad because the zookis were nice running motors.

My local dealer had access to some Mercury 50 HP and under 2 Strokes - real Mercs. He is just getting the full order now, I rigged a 50 for him on a Jon and it was labelled all over the place with NOT FOR SALE IN CANADA OR US. I think he stocked up on 50s, 25s, 15s and 9.9s. Not sure if the US dealers were offered the engines, I'm in Canada.

As a fellow Rude dealer(since 1968) this is not a good sign to come to be reentering the 4-stroke market when they dedicated all they had to developing direct Inj 2-stroke, even tho the public has lost confidence in the ETEC over the last couple years the 2009 and up have proven to us to be a good reliable engine. But also with the loss of the lightning gear case the M2 is not a comparison in speed( some of our customers lost 6 mph on a bass boat) my personal opinion they've made some terrible decisons the last couple of years and I hope to see them succeed in the future but it's not looking very promising. We are also a Yamaha and Merc dealer and over the past 3 years almost every Rude customer we had have switched to Yamaha mostly and a few Mercs but we cannot give away an Evinrude at this point. Like I said I hope they can pull through, but time will only tell.
