    I'll check CDI out - and yes...still have that girl. She's awesome...but at 4'11" - long legged...isn't her profile!

As far as the transom...I don't know. It was good for me after I did it, and I have no idea how often it was used when the other guy bought the boat. As of right now, on both a visual and just pulling and twisting against the motor I don't see any flex. Probably doesn't hurt to have the massive aluminum reinforcement you see on this in those photos.

ah...just checked out CDI - Looks like they have the electric boxes...but not the wire harness. OldMercparts has the harness...but I've been playing a bit of email/phone tag with them. I'll hot wire the starter maybe tonight and do the compression test. If we are good - I'm going to start with ordering the harness and then can work out from there...I'm guessing.

I should start a new thread for this - but recommendations on prop size? I'll need to get one of those sooner or later. Anybody want a never permanently installed hot foot as partial trade for a prop? I'm not going to install that, but have it partially hooked up in there as that was part of what the other guy was doing when everything went bad.

I would look for a cheap 20 Laser II to get started for a prop. Since you’re not planning to keep the hot foot I’m guessing max performance is not what you’re after...

Neat story. I had a Vector I owned 4 times and it belongs to a friend of mine to this day. I live fairly close also and have a ton of parts I am trying to liquidate cheap. May be worth a trip.

    Wow, that is crazy.

Guy abandoned the boat TWICE, does not deserve to own a boat.

ID:	410448I picked up the a used 20 pitch laser II as suggested over the weekend. I also got the boat off the trailer and scrubbed the heck out of it with bleach and soap.

I made a quick wooden wooden dolly for the engine and body.

After soaking the cylinders for a couple of days in liquid wrench I ran a compression test. Solid 150 per cylinder! Even the one that had the plug out with the cowling removed for all these years.

Im going to try to save this engine as is.

Ahh...my mistake. Turns out CDI has all the parts I need for this model...but I wasn't navigating their website very well.

I need to settle on a vendor to order them through.

I heard it growl...and scream! Now waiting on it to FLY!!!!!!! (again).

I took Monday off and wrapped up the engine re-do.

So...here is the skinny. After spending WAY too much money on the old Visa...(over $2K)....

    We now have new:

    trigger
    stator
    switch boxes
    coils
    wires (all inner/outer harness)
    carb rebuild
    plugs
    fuel lines
    water pump
    replaced prop
    plugs
    fuel pump guts
    ignition switch
dead man switch/kill switch (I wanted to add this since my young son will be piloting this...and it makes me feel better)
    (dozens of misc things)
and more than I can remember.

    ***

Now...I'm doing some work to the trailer (new rollers...etc) to get it ready. Nothing major...but it will need new tires. We got the Illinois title in the mail for it yesterday...so that is excellent.

I ordered some Sierra gauges...and a new Teleflex steering cable. I hope I got the size right. there is a possibility I have to replace the steering hub too as we couldn't really match anything up. The control box was torn open when I got it back with a hotfoot install in progress. I removed that, cleaned...and resealed the box. I'm having to get creative on the tilt/trim buttons on the handle. They are dead. But, they are the exact some rubber push buttons as a remote start cable that I have in the shop. So, if all else fails I'll get another one of those and rob the button out.

Next is to get the basics wired back in - then give it a polish...remount the motor and battle the hydraulics...and I think...we are ready to go get it wet.

I wish I had taken video of the engine. I needed a WIN - and this was it. It sounded soooooooooo awesome. I love the sound of one of these things out of the water.

The trailer is a shorelander - the bunks are in great shape...but the very rear center has an 18" roller - that is missing now (must have rotted away) and there is an 8" up closer to the front bottom. But the rest of the boat saddles up on bunks.

    Does that make sense?
