Nice ride. I have a 1980 Wellcraft Nova 250 XL with twin inboards. I do like them.
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

I decided to get into the engine break in.
Many thanks to this very forum and the advice received, I very carefully did a number of starts, up to temperature then shut down for 24 hours. I have Wisco forged pistons and wanted to give the engine the very best opportunity to live.
I am now at a point where I can take the engine up to 6000 rpm before reducing rpm back to the 5000 rpm mark. Best speed seen so far is 56mph with 22 inch prop.
For the next run I will have fitted a 23 Rev 4. I am keen to lose some cavitation and expect to see the speed continue to climb.

Time for some updates. Engine almost broken in. Can run up to max rpm but no sustained max rpm.
Max speed to date is 58mph.
Still to do, Engine timing. Through hull water pickup for outboard. New kits for trim and tilt rams. New Thermolite windscreen frame almost complete. Son Blair has made an awesome job of the windscreen frame. Only paint and glass to come.

    Boat looks really good!

I especially like that you kept the teak on the windshield.

    Old school school!
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Greetings mate. The teak capping was offered as an option and an option which I always liked, however my boat didn’t come with the teak so we decided to add it. In addition it also added strength and rigidity to our composite window frame.
We have added other teak capping etc including the teak veneer on the boarding platform.
So really a mix of both new and old but endeavouring to retain the old school look and feel.

I put stringers in a customers Nova that had the teak trim.

I used to sell Celebrity’s in ‘89 and they were just transitioning away from teak to plastic trim.
As a cuddy guy, I thought their 21’ - 23’s in that era, w/the teak trim, we’re some of the prettiest, most functional cuddies of all time.

I would always point out the “classic looks” of the teak (left over boats) to my customers who would then buy a new Celebrity w/no teak!

Id still take one w/a big block and a Bravo.

Your 8 looks perfect on that boat!

Awaiting glass but window frame finished and attached.
Next sea time will see the timing reset and a bit more prop testing. Shouldn’t be long now.
