Looking good. Keep up the great work... 'Giday Mate'. Gidday mate right back to you Jolly. Thanks for the positive comment. I love your ride, very nice rig. What power?

    Mr Joe,
New to screamandfly.com and to this thread. I am considering converting my stern drive to an outboard and stumbled across your thread.
I have three comments for you:
    1. I absolutely admire your perseverance! Very few people would have stuck with a project for this period of time (3 years) and retain the attention to quality you have exhibited.
    2. Which brings me to the second point: the attention to quality and workmanship are very impressive. I am quite interested to see the outcome of the project.
    3. Thirdly, hopefully this is not inappropriate, I hope your wife is doing well and with you still.
    Regards,
    Jeff P

Greetings from New Zealand Jeff and welcome to Scream & Fly. Great bunch of boys lurk here and plenty of information and help for when you get into your project.
    1. Thank you for your kind comments, boat building for me is a passion particularly the innovation/design aspects. Old Kiwi saying, "do it once, do it right".
    2. Thank you and so am I. Getting closer.
    3. Not inappropriate at all, still with me, just completed her final dose of Chemo, fingers crossed and praying for a good outcome, it has been a long journey and got in the way of the Nova rebuild...... Thank you for your well wishes and regards.

On completion I will purchase a "Go Pro" camera and will post lots of pics, footage and information on it's success or not. Even with the HP I have I don't expect it to be a rocket ship but if it is too slow I may consider adding a pad to it. My goal speed is 70mph.

Good luck with your project, just go for it.

    Neville.

Still progressing Marc, had a good few hours on Saturday. The next pic will be when I have had the gun out and the dash area and seating have been primed. I am keen to get it out of the shed and give it a good wash and vacuum out the inside. The two Teak doors/hatches which are trademark Wellcraft and fit under the rear seat have been joined by a third which Blair has built. This third one is a vented cover to allow breathing to the battery compartment and will fit between the two hatches. I sanded all three and oiled them the other night. I am pleased with the outcome.

I selected one of the stainless steel engine brackets for the side steering and took it over to my stainless guy for polishing. He tells me it will be like a mirror when he returns it.

Almost what I keep telling myself, "If I only had MORE time"...... Yeah keeping at it, slowly but surely. I will be looking at the cabin as a separate exercise, will use and abuse a bit before I head into the cabin.

Been planning on doing the IO to outboard conversion on my 24 SR and was going with a bracket until I saw your thread. For me this looks to be the best solution as I will be rebuilding transom, stringers basically everything.
How thick are these stringers? I will be going with twin Honda 115's so the pod will probably be a little wider then yours. Was thinking of laminating two 3/4" marine ply together to make the stringers, is that overkill? Also I may use three stringers with one down the middle, any thoughts?
Thank you for sharing this great build with the rest of the boating community.

    Greetings Chief,

sorry for late reply, I have been overseas on holiday, just got back yesterday. Thank you for your kind words on my workmanship. If you can you send me a PM with engine weight, shaft length and an external photo of your existing transom and I will do some research.

    Regards,

    SJ.
