5250 bottom guided rods

when a machine shop cuts the .050 off each side of these rods so the can be run top guided do the cut the rod journal end also or just wrist pin end

depends on the rods, merc had a couple of bastard yrs where 1 side was .812 and one was .712, most bottom guided were .812 on both sides, so you would take .050 off both ends on either side. the final measure to convert to top guide is .712 on the small and big ends. jay smith cuts them down now

Charlie is RIGHT ON ! Both ends have to be .712" - .710" if I remember without digging out notes..
