Not finished blending and polishing the cuts yet, but thought I would post a pic... Guess we will c how it works out. It might be a slow POS or it might be fast.. Never know till ya try.. It was a free mota and I enjoy experimenting.. I think it's gonna need a LOT of Fuel and Air..And A LOT of Exhaust opening also which I have started working on...

I didn't check the cranking compression. I should have. I'm steppping down to the '77 heads on the next build.

I would check to see if you had any air leaks or gasket failure. I think you posted you were having lean sneeze issues.
You might also check your fuel pump I had the same problems with the engine falling on its face every once and a while. Put a new pump on it and problem solved.
Other things to make sure are "on the money" is timing and jetting (just stating the obvious)
Don't you just Love "trial and error"
I'll be doing the "tuning thing" later this summer my self with a 140 I'm building.

Getting the new replacement piston coated for reassembly very soon. I'm also building a second powerhead with the same spec for my boat. I now have two square ported blocks with the scalloped transfers. Replacement throttle shafts in route as well to resolve the low-speed leanness issue.

The motor is back together. I set the timing @ 25 degrees @ 5000. I also checked it at cranking speed and it's the same 25 degrees. The only time on it thus far is to set the timing under load. It has 152-156 compression. I hope this one doesn't melt down.

I used the same heads, not the '77's. Those will go on the second motor.

At that compression level I would not run over 22 degrees and have at LEAST 95 octane fuel
