I just wanted to update everyone.
This summer I've completely rebuilt the boat top to bottom including paint, interior, blue printed the bottom, core, transom, stringers, gauges etc.
It works amazingly well now. It can exceed 80 MPH with 4 brave people aboard, and so far I’ve had it up to 86 @ 6300 RPM with two and 88 MPH GPS solo. I'mreally impressed with this hull design; it’s extremely stable at speed andcarries weight well. The 235 is stockbesides a lwp and CCM reeds (it doesn’t even have the desirable 638, 639 heads onit yet) and yet really makes this thing haul. Even with 4 people it will pull past 6000 RPM; I’m getting a bit morecup put in the prop to try to drop the revs a bit and maybe hit 90 this yearsolo.<o></o>

I'll have to get some good shots of it on the water before the season is done and post them.

I've run my friend's Valero YT with a 175 Johnson, Hyd. jack, low water pu and it runs 75 -78 depending on which prop. Another friend's Valero w/ Merc 220 laser is in mid 80s. I know this doesn't help with the problem, but it answers your question as to how fast it should run.

Thanks for the comparison; I feel this boat runs really well now. I'm very impressed with my old crossflow; I know they are old school technology - but this motor really makes my boat move. I had some more cup put into the prop and its now running 89 MPH @ 6200 with two people aboard.
