OOps forgot the pricing...He is not sure yet but the good news is there will be a fiberglass version and a carbon version. The fiberglass will be way less expensive

Dave--first thread I have read with some real investigation into the 300XS. I need to bite the bullet at some point and retire my V8. I hear hints of two problems with the 300XS, mostly when compared to the 300X--air pump failures and coil failures. What are your thoughts on those?

    Thanks.

I have heard the same thing....After a year of abuse we have seen zero failures of any kind. We do however, after hearing the same warnings, changed up the cooling system to the compressor. My understanding from the local dealers is the air pumps have been upgraded and problem solved on newer engines. I have ruined a coil when jacking with dwell times that mercury already has perfect...my fault. I love these things and as we learn we will pass kits ,fixes along .

We have been running kits around the world in small numbers durability testing. So far so good with tweaks in the works weekly. Our primary goal is reliability so this is a long procedure. We have an on board Indy car data acquisition system that measures over 30 sensors and gps at 50 hertz. It does not lie...good or bad. This past few days we tested a 26 ft DCB with stock xs's then installed two level one kits . The results are very positive. We have seen as much as a 3.5 sec shortening of the 30 to 90 mph accelerate test and 3 mph top speed gain. It took 197 less feet to reach 90 mph with the kits. This was on a heavy cat hull with 30 bravo props. We expect to see more with a small mapping change and going to proper 4 blade cleaver propellers. We will be posting level one results soon on our site and have already started level 2 and 300x upgrades. This will be very fun as preliminarily testing is extremely promising. We will be seeing 400 hp mercs soon.

Again we want to stress that reliability is first, performance second. You have to finish to finish first. Please stay tuned.

    Thanks for asking,

    Dave

250xs and 300XS have with the earlier model big problem with coils, i had 4 go down before i get all 6 changed to new model ( warranty) that was a 2008 250xs , all say the coil problem i gone with new type of coil and the newer model 250& 300XS , my 2011 300xs have no problem with coils .... and i think they have improved the compressor ( new part no )

BTW: you will love the 300xs

    300XS Upgrades

    Dave.

Have you done the dyno testing on the add on air intake that mounts on the front of the stock 300XS cowling- the toaster one?

Also does anyone have info on the aftermarket -300X- style cowling that increases airflow and replaces the stock -300XS- cowling?

yes...and more importantly we have tested them all at speed on the water. The more you ram air the engine the better. At 90 mph and up you can see a difference in gps speed with the different cowls. The toaster works the best of all we have tried to date. The new 300x style cowl is done and we will be testing next week. Very, very nice piece.

    Great.
Is Toaster ram air intake available now, and how much is it? (funny name ;-) , I think it looks pretty good though)
How much do you anticipate the 300X style aftermarket cowl will cost?
