    25 hp Mercury 1990

    Hello,
Ive got a new to me 25 hp mercury. Its a little less HP than I was looking for, BUT its a 15" shaft so I went for it. Im wondering if it can be modified to get more power. New jets in the carb maybe? Thanks for looking.

Nothing just keep it stock since its a blind hole block (no cylinder head). Would take way too much time and money to make any horsepower with these motors but they are good reliable motors for normal use. I've had one for ten years and only changed the water pump and spark plugs.

I have one too, great motor. I have been told a carburetor from a 35 HP engine will give it a boost. Apparently it is bigger.

Well if I run across a 35 carb I'd be willing to try it but those motors seem almost non existent down here.

There is a guy up here with a ton of Merc stuff. His name is Tim @ Tim's repair in Grantsburg Wisconsin. He may be of some help.
