Hello Don, I'm still lurking around some. No real fast boats anymore, didn't achieve what I want from the Carlson yet and kinda cooled off a little. Need a jack plate for it and looking for a used one (missed one on ebay Friday).

Every time I see another Viper on here I kick myself for selling mine.
OK, I got down off the porch and ran with the big dogs....kinda sore now....think I'll just lay here in the flowerbed for a while...

Once you break 50 with the contender the need for speed will return. Bernie you are inches away from some numbers with the contender. You are running an inline and with the right setup that contender will fly. Fast is what you make of it. Sure it's nice to do 100 but to break 50 with an inline and a 20 plus year old boat is fast too. 54.7 with a 30 yr old checkmate with a 30 yr old inline seems fast to me but then again im old'. Rick

Yeah Rick, my problem was setting the boat up without a plate. Should have known that it would be a slug with that much hardware draggin in the water. I expected it to be slow, but <45mph surprised me.

Glad to hear you are still around, Bernie!! Let me make a few comments on a speedier Carlson; You need a really good 99 cu.in Merc with a Super Speedmaster unit. I have a little experience with one set up this way. With the SSM unit handling is not a problem, but don't get in a hurry to get
    planed out.

Bernie, I know of a really nice Viper for sale. The guy that owns it is a race sponser for my buddy that races motocross. He got it in at his dealer for some work and the owner abandoned it never came back for it and now he is selling it to basically recover his costs. He told me he doesnt really know anything about these boats and he is willing to let it go cheap.

You know you want another one....

If someone doesnt buy it soon it might end up in my yard but not until I get the vulture on the water.
