umpba 1/4 mile drag race Fairmont MN Aug 13
The fairmont race is coming up on the 13th so all you that missed Omaha had better bring your A game. This will be the last race of the season so if you have something to prove put up or shut up
Race starts at 12:00 at gomsrude park.
Registration will also bee held at the park Friday night from 6-8ish. Travis will be grillin so come hungry and bring some beverages. Most of us will be staying at the locally famous hotel known for it's view of the pool with no water in it. "it's nice because we have rooms on the backside so we can sit outside and bench race" bring a lawn chair.
We will have the race course in by 8:30-9 so testing will be available. If your unsure of what class you belong in we can test and find out sat morning but you need to be out there early because 10:30 sat morning I will be making the brackets to have them done in time for the race.
We welcome any new racers and will have someone to race from the 65 MPH class up to 115. If there is anyone faster than that Troy can change his setup and run over 120.
We are out to have fun bottom line if you are new or have been with the club for a while if you need anything someone will be willing to help out

How a race is ran:
* Boats are set up into the five classes shown above. Anything over 2mph over your class is an
automatic disqualification.
* All types of watercraft are encouraged to participate. Therefore special classes may be added
to the race if needed in an effort not to eliminate anyone (i.e. jet skis, family runabouts).
* Boats are paired up randomly for each class in double elimination heats.
* Race pairs are lined up at a starting line (course set up with anchored buoys).
* Race heats are official after starting flag is raised by starter.
* During a race heat, boats must not cross the finish line on the "wrong" side of the center line buoy.
Boat "A" must not enter boat "B's" lane, or visa versa or go outside any marked lanes doing so
will result in a loss for that heat.
* The "Black Flag" will be used to clearly identify any racer that does not comply with the rules and regulations
set forth by the UMPBA. You will get one warning, the next infraction and your done racing.
* Finish line video equipment can be used to help the finish line judge determine the winner of each race heat.
* All decisions made by the starting/finish line judge are final.
* The Awards ceremony will be after the race course has been picked up and brought in, we would like as
much participation as possible as the winner's deserve the recognition.

Sounds good Dave. How was testing last night?
I was out for a bit with a dead battery but managed a 12.51 at 83 on the motor but it wouldn't run worth a darn on the bottle. Man I tell ya these gtechs are the bomb for testing.Chet Olson

We'll be there in Fairmont.
The ball's really rolling this season.....there is "talk" about a "FALL CLASSIC" drag race at Jewell, IA in September. It's in the works with the state of Iowa as of this morning......(even before your post Chet).
Hopefully, we'll have enough interest to keep racing after Fairmont, MN.

Hey Chet.... I would like to play with the Gtech to get some tunning done. Just not sure if I will have it under driven, over driven some, or over driven more, could if Creampuff would bring the 44 tooth pulley I could over drive it a insane amount... 34% instead of 18%. Just hope someone can jump up to unlimited class. Maybe if there was two boats in unlimited, we still could race in lake racer 4....! Kinda gets the blood flowing!

34% ha, are you trying to make a inspection hole in your block?
You bet you can use the gtech.
You can run in lake racer 4 as long as you don't break out.Chet Olson

Nope! GM block would take 1150 hp, even eaiser since I havent had it wide open for then 2 seconds during a race! The hardest I ran it was during the finial round and couldnt hit it hard till mid track.

How much boost would that be? I guess I might not completly understand and am thinking it would make some crazy boot pressure.
