HotBoat meet at Lake Minniola

Got a phone call yesterday[7/24] from 4702 that there is a Hotboat meet going on in August at Lake Minniola[sp].I went to dragboatcity.com and see it is for Saturday the 13th.I plan on being there.Anybody else? I've never been to this lake and looking forward to it and seeing the great folks we met at Lake Kerr event

That should be on the clermont chain. Anyone know what the water level is like? Thats only a little over an hour away for me. I am there....

Hey guys,
It should be a pretty good time. the water is up enough to stay on Lake Minneola. If you have a jet you will be able to go through the canals. Jet Boat Dave lives on the little lake just west of Minneola. I just talked to him Friday & he says he has been out in his Jet going through the canals but thinks it's too shallow for V-Drives. It should be a blast!!! Here is the piece I posted a few weeks ago if you need a place to stay, etc.

There are a few to choose from in the immediate area. The first one (Minneola Inn) is where the Tiki Bar is located. It's not real fancy but a cool place to sleep the night for a good price.

Inkman, I forgot about this meet, Robbie told me about seeing it on Dragboat but I knew the work up here would not be finished in time. Sounds like it will be a blast. Horizon knows that chain well.

How many boats are usually at this get together? I might make the trip down since I didn't make Lake Kerr.

The water level is a little low but is good enough for Jets and most sterns to make it through the canals. Jet Boat Dave lives on the chain and says he has been out in the last couple of weeks going through the canals. It's raining here just 25 miles East of Clermont in Ocoee so hopefully it is raining out there today to help fill the lakes. I have a count of about 20 boats attending so far. Possibly more that aren't or haven't responded yet.
It should be a GREAT TIME!! I have my friend (who's beach we are going to take over) trying to get a band together that plays on an open Pontoon Boat to show up for some live music.

Wow, brings back memories. Spent many a summers there as a kid to my teen years. My Grandparents use to own the Oak Lane Mobile Home Park just outside of Clermont, when both sides of the road were just marsh. I've riden in an air boat and jumped the road, it was scary as a kid. Pa Pa use to keep the small canal from the park to Lake Palatlakaha open (by hand) just enough to get a 18' or so runabout through, then we would run the chain. Back then, you operated the locks yourself. Do you still do that? Learned to waterski in Lake Minneola and JC beach was the place to hang out as a teenager, lots of pretty young girls.

Wish this get together was earlier in the year, but after Labor day in not good for me. Ya'll have fun!!!

Just want to say thanks to all that came out for the fun on Lake Minneola Saturday. It was a Beautiful day of Fun in the Sun and smooth water all day. We will have to do this again real soon!!!!
