    1990 Pro Comp setup

I'm trying to help out a friend with 1990 pro comp, it has a 225HO Etec with 8" of setback. What would be a good staring point for prop height? Right now it looks to be about 3/4" below the pad. It porpoises real bad at almost any speed or trim position, we have tried a few different props and it only gets worse from a power Tech 27 4 blade, don't know what model.

8" setback, start about 3/4" ABOVE the pad and go up from there. I have a '92 PCS and with 6" of setback, run at 1-1/4" above the pad.

At 500plus pounds that motor is too heavy for any set back. That is why it porpoises so bad. It may not even work bolted to the transom. Try moving as much stuff up front as possible. To an extent you may be able to drive through the porpoising but good luck.

The reason for the jack plate is he lost two engines a 200 looper that came on it and a built 235, both due to water related issues. He wanted some adjustabilty,
the Etec with the Titus cone, new pump, etc.. still goes into limp mode when running under 40 MPH for too long. Thanks

Not sure I completely agree. Paul (Bullhead Bully) has a pretty light RR with 8" setback and a 300XS that runs very well.
