    1966 Pipkorn 16 Ft. Hustler.

Howard Pipkorn built around 21 of these in 1966. The hull is similar to a Switzer Shooting Star of the same era. Very rare boat with possibly 1 other out there.
I would like to find out more info on this boat. Lyle 651-329-8869.

well, now I am curious...I agree 110% with what Michael said above. Till Sam posed the badge photo? Could that just be a badge from a Hydrostream Hustler (11ftr) on one of Umbarger's Hustler Wildcats?
    Please, larger pix!

If those are allen screws holding that badge on ... my guess would be the badge is a transfer because someone liked the name - a long time ago. I thought a Wildcat was a full tunnel?

The wildcat was not a tunnel. It was a v-pad offered in a 13' and 15' model. My dad had one (15' Wildcat factory comp boat) and he had it back when I was born in the early/mid 70's and sold it to my cousin in the late 80's and they had it till sometime in the early 90s. That was an awesome boat and its what got me started in boating.

Here is a page to the Hustler history page kinda.

    http://www.hustlersport.com/Page%20hustler%20boats.htm

And yes, Hustler Marine is still around but they havent made any boats since 1983. Also, That boat is not rebadged from some of the info I tried digging up but I never followed up on some of it. Maybe its time to give Jim a call and get the scoop. Or corner Howard at the grocery store next time I see him there. LoL

From what I have been told is this for the most part, back in the day, Howard and Jim were talking and they took the Switzer Shooting Star and made their molds similar to that hull (for air entrapment). They then tried racing this new boat and found that it did not corner very well and later went on to design there vpad hulls and Howard went on to start Hydrostream and Jim continued to do his thing with Hustler.

The Hustler Tunnels were called just that, Hustler Tunnel.

Bump, I resized the pictures so you don't have to get out the electron microscope!!!
As far as I know, Howard Pipkorn DID build these, according to dick Kojetin (Pronounced Koteen) who is a life time friend of Howard, and Hydrostream employee for many years.

Yes it is. Its been on hold for some time but working on a new house with the space I need to start working on it again. You can go to the website (I think it still working) and see both the info I have collected on it and photos of were I'm at with it. I still have not found or seen another boat like this one. I have info on one of two v bottom's that have seen. I have had some people say they know were one is but nothing more then talk so far.

What a strange place for the fasteners? Why not the ends of the badge bar?

I think these hull lines could have been the inspiration for Art Carlson's Glastron CT15, Challenger and Contender which appeared several years later. Especially the bottom air entrapment and transom lines.
