Well that makes sense. The exaust is open at the cavplate so there's not much exaust going around the prop. From looking at the inside of the lower I get how it works, and that is exactly how it is set up. You learn something everyday.

Ralph, Boy I am glad we got that straightened out. In all serousness it may work better to leave the tab off with no cover plate ,when jacked up cuz the hole is bigger to except more spray off the prop wash, rather than that little hole taking in spray.

Well here it is..... I just sanded it down, gelcoated the top and sanded it smooth, rattle can primed and painted it. It came out good, not perfect but i dont really care as long as it works.

The prop is good, I need to send it out to be worked one day. It could use more pitch and cup. I hope it works, the boat was fine before, but going slow was a pain, so I'm hoping it will help and with launch a bit. I hope to test it by at least tomorrow.

It is a fishin boat motor so it needs a fishin boat prop.

The biggest improvement in holeshot we have ever seen on the action was adding 40 psi of compression to my brothers old wore out mullet boat 225

How did you add the compression? I know ou can plug the idle relief holes, and mill the heads, but then dont you have to rejet? I would like to raise the 90psi I got now...

Well this old 75psi commercial mullet boat motor had umpteen thousand hours on it so since we had about $50 in the motor we put 2.7 heads on it then cut them a few times till compression was up 110-120 then plugged the reliefs We wanted to go to 150 but we were worried about squish

Put yours around 130-140 it will wake it up in the mid range but you have to run 91 or better no more 87

Well I think it works great, alot better than before. I can come onto plain slow and maintain it no prob. I can jack the motor all the way up, and tuck the motor a little and take off with out cavitation, comes up right away. I need to watch it while someone else drives to actually see how it runs. So far so good.
