Anybody make there own hydrofoil? pics...
Is a skid plainer of a hydrofoil better for improved hole shot. I know there is a thread with pics of home made skid plainers, but what about foils. I was thinking of making one similar to bobs foil, as opposed to a whale tail style and was wondering it anybody else had done the same?

I think Gary (Liberator21) on here has made a bunch of his own stuff, give him a shout if he doesn't see this.

I copied a allison foil and it made a huge different in the holeshot on my boat. I think the foil would make an improvement on just about any hull design but as far as the skid planer Ive only really seen them on allisons. I think they both serve the same purpose but would probably work best together.

I've made a few, tried to upload pics but it says some BS about invalid image. the difference is night and day. the first one I made was on a tunnel hull fishing boat, it would blow out even in a moderate turn. I had seen quite a few variations over the years and decided to mimick the Texas tunnel hull style plates - much larger than required on a performance boat. the difference was amazing, the boat would not blow out no matter how tight I turned it - tight circles and figure eights over its own wake didn't affect the prop's grip and the hole shot was also greatly improved. since then I've made quite a few more for friends and my brother who now sells them for the technical poling skiffs. the latest one is on my Sleekcraft flats boat with a 300 promax, it is very similar to the Allison plate just a little larger with more angle on the "wings". Recently I had the promax rebuilt and after about 3 months when I got it back I didn't even notice the mechanic forgot to put the plate back on it, after the first couple of hours of break in it was time to get it up on plane, it was really having a hard time getting up with the Pro ET - not my best hole shot prop unless you hit it hard. I didn't rember it being that bad though. then when I put the boat back on the trailer I noticed the plate was missing - put it back on and problem solved I'll try to post some pics again tomorrow.

my attempt at a foil similar to bobs...
Well I turned the platform that the fuel tank used to sit on into a foil, do you guys think it'll work, at least a little? The fins on it are kinda for looks as well as a little tracking while its coming on plane. I'll either fair it out and paint it black, or put a layer of carbon on top, gotta see what I got......
