Johnson 1996 130 HP Looper Crankcase half installation alignment question
Wondering if I could have screwed up the center bearing alignment during rebuild...96 v4 130 hp looper.
Prior to installing crankcase half, I tapped the bottom bearing head down(away) from bottom block ~1/16 as well as the upper bearing head ~1/16.
This was done to allow the crankcase half to more easily drop onto the crankcase half onto the gel seal II prepped block.
Installed crankcase - finger tightened all bolts - firmly set the single taper pin - tighten crankcase bolts(all) - THEN tightened upper and lower heads.
I realize the upper head is no biggie, but I'm wondering if I could have thrown off the center main bearing race via the bottom bearing head, although there isn't any indication that has occurred.
Given that the crank side of the center main bearing race is pinned, I'm only concerned about the crankcase side of the race aligning perfectly to its cracked mate.
Motor turns smoothly by hand without any binding or clicking.
Thoughts?

Thanks! Since it's only pinned in one corner, I also had to tap the crankcase diagonally(~3/32") to align the machined lower bearing housing face...after it was firmly pinned and the bolts were finger tight.
I didn't want to get too wordy earlier... does that change things. Just hate removing Gel Seal!

There shoud be two alignment pins for the crankcase halves.... if you are sure the center split bearing races are on the pins and the crank rolls smoothly, your'e good to go.

For the bearings, there's only a pin in the block side, the snap-ring is the only alignment for the other half. they usuall kiss up with no problems.
