    Microtech Knives POOR Customer Service

A while back I spent over $400 on a Microtech OTF auto knife. I used it everyday and eventually the springs got weak and it wouldnt open all the way sometimes. Well they use these proprietary tri-wing screws to screw the damn thing together but u can find the special bit online, $15 for a little screwdriver bit is outrageous, but if you open the knife you void the warranty. Ive tried calling microtech at least 10 times and they never answer or return my calls. You have to get a return authorization before you can send it to them. You would think considering what these things cost they would have better customer service than that.

Yea, I filled out the online return authorization form yesterday. It said I should receive a response within 24hrs, havent heard anything yet. But from I've read on a few online knife forums, they barely respond to emails also. I would expect crap like this from a local little company or something but not a major knife and firearm manufacturer like Microtech. Burns my a$$

Well after call after call and email after email with no response, I decided to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against Microtech. Im more than willing to pay for the services my knife needs. I just dont understand how a major company can sell high dollar products and not stand behind them. At least answer the damn phone. Hopefully the BBB can light a fire under their a$$es.

Well call it coincidence or not, the day after I filed a complaint with the BBB Microtech emailed me back with a return authorization. Turn around time is supposed to be 3-6 weeks...We shall see

That hurt Chris (ouch). The two I have they don't make any more. They don't even make a dive knife anymore??????? But I still have mine . Used it just the other weekend to cut a Crab pot rope off my buddies house boat props and shaft's. He sucked up a commercial Crab pot and damaged both props. You would have been proud of me. Did the dive and changed them both out in 3" visability all within less than two hours.

They are a superb Knife by any standard (hell mine are 25 years old). But the Kershaw is a well made knife as well.

But even Spyderco is made in like six different countries.

    It's all good Buddy .

Dam right. It felt good to do a job like that. You should have seen the look on their faces when I pulled it off (total flippin Jaw Drop). He was looking at a few thousand to get the boat pulled out just to do the prop change.

Keep in mind it is a House boat with V drives (not out drives). Tapered shaft, Have to use a special puller etc.

The amazing thing was I used less than a 1000 lbs of air for the whole change out. .
