Make sure a Mercury tech puts it into break in mode so the oil pump and engine oil lines get primed with oil.

The first hour Mercury wants you to run the engine at about 3/4 throttle without any extended (Five minute) idle times. Change speed every two minutes.

For the next three hours change engine speed every ten minutes.

Theres probably more, but thats all i can think of at the moment.

Hope this helps. Make sure a Mercury tech puts it into break in mode.

Read the owners manual as it states how to do the break-in procedure. I think the manual tells you to put it from neutral to forwared 5 times and then you should hear the oil pump priming the system. Worked great for my 300xs
