Bravo 1 versus TRS, which will handle more power
I want to know if the Bravo 1 versus the TRS outdrive would be better for a BBC application. Does anyone know what the power rating is for the Bravo 1 and also for the TRS outdrives? I am looking for the torque rating of each outdrive.
I am restoring a 1977 Hallet that came with a TRS outdrive, 454BBC, and Merctrans transmission. I like the idea of having a transmission doing the shifting instead of doing it in the lower unit. I have heard that the lower unit shifting can cause extra stess on the gears that can lead to gear breakage in a Bravo 1.
I have a Bravo 1 outdrive that I can substitue for the TRS outdrive if the Bravo 1 has a higher torque rating with the possibility of lasting longer than the TRS.
Anyone with real world experience pros and cons?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Bravo by far, the transmissions break just as easily( or easier) as the Bravos. Parts for TRS and especially the merc trannies are hard to come by now and they are heavy. Between Max Machine Works ,Teauge and IMCO a Bravo can be upgraded to be nearly bullet proof.

Does anyone have the actual torque rating specifications for the Bravo1 and for the TRS?
