    40hp modded Yamaha

Plan to test next weekend, if water levels allow me. Hoping to hit mid to upper 80's after some break-in and tuning.

    Red face Testing

Motor ran great when testing. Cooling was very good and all parts stayed together. After break-in, I made a couple WOT passes and got respectable speed on the gps. We ran out of time to begin tuning. I plan to start tuning with timing, carb jetting and prop setup...was a good day of testing.

I'll try to get some video the next time out.

The gearcase and tower are from Bass Machine. Although, less cc's than a DMH, it has to compete in the 850cc class(SEH).

That would seem optimistic considering speeds obtainable with a 44 XS which is both larger in displacement and horsepower if i'm not mistaken . Been a while since I had mine on a DSH Furnal Flyer (1993 ) Nice setup though .

    Hey Tom,
My optimism is based off of the differences in technology from the Mercury 44xs deflector motor vs the Yamaha loop charge motor. I get 81mph with my Mercury 44xs and the looper is a much lighter package as well. I have just begun testing and have already exceeded the 44xs speed. There must be a reason why APBA won't allow it to compete in the DMH class?? I'm doing my best to find out why and having a lot of fun doing it.

Why don't you break that Flyer back out and run with us old farts!!

Short course Nationals at Rock Away Beach Mo. June 3,4,5, are you going to be there? Dan Crummett runs a Furnal Flyer with Tohautsu, and Bass Lower, I'll Run CSH. Water has really been up probably crap in the water!

Hello. I have seen your boat on the internet. I was wondering if you still own it ? Is the boat in your ID picture a Furnal Flyer ? I would like to buy it. Do you still have the Merc 44XS? I would like to buy the whole rig ?
    Drop me a line , please .
    Thanks Mitch

Mitch, I still have the boat and still race with it. The 44xs is long gone, to a collector. The class has died in my region and I only race in the Modified category now. I built the hull myself and it's still very competitive.I'm not looking to sell at this time. Sorry for the delayed response. https://youtu.be/QKhJC-uKY40
