South Louisiana Boys.... Flyin Carps are Coming w/ Miss. Water

With the opening of the flood gates in Morganza (possibly)and Bonne Carrie spillways( already opening),,, we'll probably get more than our share of them dayumed Asian Carps introduced into our waterways from up North. I think it was a matter of time anyway, but the relief of the Mississippi River water into Atchafalaya basin where there are already some Asian carp,,, and into Lake P , it's a matter of time before they find their way into the river systems which dump into Lake P and then Lake Maurepas...Hopefully the brackish and salt water levels of both lakes will kill them suckers or at least deter them from finding the mouths of the freshwater river systems.

Yes, they are good to eat apparently,, they have been marketed as "Silverfin", supposed to taste like Talpia,,,, dunno' myself. The dayum things only lay about 100,000 eggs per fish in spawn....... they outnumber native species very quickly.

They have caused their share of damage to local fisheries as well as already said, caused many deaths and injuries when jumping out of water , and hitting someone.

I wouldn`t eat um just because they are in the carp family, Same as Buffalow fish. They stink and it takes a week just to get the smell off your hands. NOPE, Not me! There are to many good things to eat instead.
