    2.5 horsepower - 200, 200xs, 225, 225x etc...

    Curious of propshaft hp of various merc engines (non offshore). I've read various #'s and wondering if anyone has dynoed these on the same dyno. Examples I've seen posted:
    the black motor 200's make 220ish,
    the new 200xs makes either 225 or 245,
    225x = 245,
    promax 225 = ???

    Just curious how much you actually gain from changing engines?

    I've also read the 260 and 280 make right at 260 and 280, can anyone verify?

    I was told my 225 Pmax SS [15" mid] usually dynoed about 240 leaving the factory. I don't know if that is true. The 280s seem awfully strong to only turn out 280 on the dyno.

    the new 200xs shows a 225 hp rating on the engine ID tag, should make 240ish with the offshore mid. Totally sweet running motors at any rpm.

    I just got a 2005 280 SS and when we put it up on the dyno it came in at 282HP. We will put a Promax on it next to see how it compares.

    That sounds about right for the X. I still have not gotten the Promax on the dyno but hope to shortly. I will be happy if the mtor is above 240HP. That would make three 2.5 fishin motors puttin out 240+........200XS GenII, Promax 225, and 225X. I would add to that the 2.5XS which is an Opti making about 245HP.
