Tom is a great guy, I buy from him often. As with the V4 compression on an * should not be compared with a 6 as the 8 has two sets of runners like a 4. While the cut late model heads are an option they dont make the power of a 2.7 head.

My 2.7 heads should arrive on Monday, but I won't have time to test before going to work on my ship. (Btw- the engine on my ship is also a 6 cylinder 2-stroke, but the stroke lenght is over 6 feet and it's turning 94rpm at full speed @ 14knots) I'm planning to first install them and leaving the relief holes unplugged and see what the comp will be. I will then decide if I will plug those holes or not.

I would love to see if any top-end increase is there, I know bottom and mid will get much better, Matt

Maybe it will let you run a little more prop because it builds torque?

I get kinda envious when you are talking about 32" props... I'm thinking I have to get myself a lightweight hull soon. The Concord is great for family fun on the lake, but it's just too heavy for those high speed runs. My goal is to get it up to 70mph.

I feel your pain norsk, I'd be pretty good with somewhere near 70 with my current motor.

Well then I feel pretty good, I've hit 70 on the mark. No set up or prop yet. Still learning to keep it under control. Hope to swap the lowers soon.

Right now I can only get it up to 61, but none of my props fits too well. I have been fighting all kins of fuel problems since i got the motor and had to figure that out first. Now that's solved and I can start setting up for some more speed. First I will get those 2.7 heads on, get it jetted properly and then I think I will need a 8 - 12" jack plate and a good prop.
If I want to scare myself, I can always slack the steering cables a turn. Then I get crazy chine walk at 55;-)Hal
