    Converting a O/B to I/B....

I know people convert I/B to O/B, but has anybody ever dropped a inboard in a action or hydrostream or similar? How would that effect speed and handling? I would think a 500hp hydrostream would haul azz.

Is that how much it would weigh? I have a buddy that just rebuilt a chevy small block, its straight motor and its got like 500hp or something. The motor itself didnt look that big, but then again I didnt try to lift it.

I herd some guy had plans to put a turbo busa motor in a viper with a surface drive. Light 500hp could be interesting if the motor had a broad enough torque curve problem is youd have to turn it 10k to get to 500 hp I'd put my life line over my flack jacket. They wont make over 100ft-lbs till 6k.

Heres one that did 529, i have seen them pull 562 but issue is no low end torque....

I think a busa motor and a jet pump would work better. A friend of mine just bought the brand new 300x Kawasaki jet ski, 300hp, twin screw supercharger, 80+ mph stock, and the thing weighs more than most of these boats. Imagine 500+hp.....

Yes the only way to make it worth your while is the Busa rout or a 300lb 300hp twin rotor rotary. These motors mounted to a vee drive would haul the mail!! Well over 100MPH with setup. A little pricey the power alone is 8000 bucks for a 300HP Rotary. The nice thing is they spin over 12000 rpm and only weigh 300lbs!! They have a better power to weight than an outboard and guys are turboing them. Theres a 120-130mph 20fter on you tube with a sick Rotary motor turbo ed. http://www.atkinsrotary.com/index.php?pag=50-15 makes these marine rotaries from mild 300hp to wild over 1000!!! Ive always wanted to try that rout with my GS. I have sketches and talked to those guys at Atkins. A triple can make 500hp and is under 500lbs. Direct drive is the way to go. Like a Trimable surface drive. Theres loads of makes available for this application and HP range that are also compact. One more thing is the rotorys from these guys have a flat tourque curve equal to the HP curve right from the get go!!! You should follow the link and check out the HP/FT curve on these bad boys!!

Sorry to say this but Don,t waste your time & $$$$$$. Howard only made a few prototype jets
I'll try to explain why I think they were never put into production. I've been around Hydrostream since 1972.
Streams are meant to fly. How much of the boat is in the water at wop??? Depending on your driving skills 12 inches to 0.
The jet has to stay in the water at all times or it goes dry.
I have the panther jet. On my panther jet intake It's the pad of the boat (last 12 inches of the boat).
The pump wants to go dry all the time at wop. I have a ride plate on my pump. I had to make the ride angle way down into the water to keep the bow down. I have to keep the boat wet & not let it fly.
I will say this, the hole shot is unbelievable. I can stay dead even with the bigger jet skies , until I top out (65 GPS).
If you want to see the hole shot click on video

Years back I recall a magazine tested a bass boat with a small block Chev and a Blackhawk drive that worked well. Guess it is like props, you just don't know till you try it.
