    difference between closed deck and open deck

    Does anybody have any pictures showing the difference between an open deck and closed deck omc?

    Thanks for the pictures. I understand now. When I think of a closed deck I was thinking more like the Mercury motors without heads where you have to put pistons in through the bottom.

    Tomaprilsswitzers has one of 12 I believe that were made...

    I think "the kid" just forgot to take the gasket off the deck of the top pic!!!

    Nope, the top pic is obviously a 60* they do not use gaskets they use O-rings but its still a closed deck motor

    Ralph was not asking about V8's re-read his post, all the pics I posted were OMC's

    Here is a ~99-01 closed deck 90* V6 and no theres no head gasket on it

    themdshrk69 inquired about v8s all being open decks, somewhere I remember reading tomaprilsswitzer having pics of a closed deck v8....

    I remember it well cuz I joked about the pic being photoshopped and he done got pissed at me! Dang! I'ze just jokin'!
