Thats Awsome Gary Looks like I've got some cuttin and grindin to do how far up from the bottom edge did you start the opening? I've thought about two rectangular holes but I think your design looks better on the Hippo mid and also probably has a deeper sound Great job on the cover plate too , hope you dont have to use it though

Thanks Tux & Dave, much appreciate the remarks.
I'm too much of a perfectionist I guess, and the fact I have a machine shop in my garage helps as well. I've always figured that if it's worth doing, then it's worth doing it right.............or why bother at all..........

I just had to do it Thanks for posting the info on the other thread Gary that made it much easier, only took about two hours plus a half hour or so to do the sanding and paint where there was a blistered area at the bottom of the mid. The sound is definitly much more throaty than stock and as far as the noise at idle speeds it's not a problem as long as very little positive trim is used but with the jackplate up and a little trim it sounds great, yeah I had to go for a ride when it was done sounds better on plane too. the only thing I did different was to use a 7/8" hole saw at the corners and didn't get out the air tools. just the hole saw, jig saw, half round file and a piece of sandpaper.
OpsDave Thanks for the link to the other thread

FlatSleek,
You da man................ Great job, hope your pleased with that little extra rumble. Looks good using a bigger drill in the corners, looks like it should have been there from the start......
