F150 EcoBOOST?
Anyone own one or driven one? Gee... it just may redefine my thinking on 8 holes? 420lb/Ft of torque at 2500RPM...now that is useable.

I just got an EcoBoost Supercrew last week. It has the basic tow package with 3.15 gears, not the 3.55 or 3.73. I've liked the truck so far, and the engine is really a novel concept. It pulls my 3500 lb boat (on trailer) great. The response is fine, with no turbo lag most of the time (except from a dead stop). My theory is that the load from the trailer keeps the turbo's partially spooled most of the time, so response while rolling is very fast.

I'd love to drive one. It's one hell of a good concept and if they beat on it just as they showed in their marketing videos, it's going to show V8's who's boss. I considered trading my PowerStroke Excursion on one but for me to get the options the Ex has I'm looking over 40K!!!!

Mine listed for over $36k. I wasn't planning on getting a new truck right now - was planning on saving up a sizable down payment. However, one of my friends stopped by the dealership and found out he coule get that truck for around $29k. Based on that price, I went and got mine now. I think that's a heckuva deal for an Ecoboost Supercrew with the in-dash LCD, tow package, and chrome package.

Thanks for feedback guys. Driving one sold me so I did go and order super crew 157" WB. 3.55 with tow and a few adds. Yeah the marketing videos are cool and actually looked like Ford had fun making it. Hopefully I'll put it thru a decent test as I do about 40k per year and a good percentage of that fully loaded and towing. I just love the peak torque at only 2500. Keepme posted and post some pix.

I always calculate my mileage. My driving habits haven't changed through my last 4 trucks, so I have a few to compare. I only put about 140 miles on this truck so far and they haven't been my usual, so you can't count them. Perhaps the 2nd fuel tank through the truck will indicate something.
As for the price, that's for an XLT, Ecoboost, supercrew, convenience package, regular tow package (3.15 gear), and chrome package.

Here in Canada they are advertised at 29 mpg. I don't see why you would be able to 25+ in the real world. I would be happy with that.

that's unreal. if that truck can get anything over 20 mpg measured, I'll have to consider it. Please keep us updated!

My father has a hybrid chevy tahoe and it doesn't even get that good mpg's. He only gets about 20 with average driving.
I talked to someone who bought one and he said he could get 25mpg out of it but he had to be really trying. Otherwise high teens and low 20's seems to be normal from them.
I was considering getting a new diesel truck but with the price of diesel skyrocketing this ecoboost F-150 is pretty impressive with it's payload and towing capacity not to mention the mileage. I had a chance to test drive one and those things really move once the twin turbos spool up.'72 Glastron GT-150 Johnson Stinger 65

For some reason Ford did not have an option for the 136l tank in the 157wb with Ecoboost. So this is my one concern. Will I get 500 miles to a tank of gas with the 96l tank. Because it's nice to drive 8hrs between fill ups on long runs. Best milage to date in my F150 with 5.4l and 3.73 is 23 mpg (imp gal). But for most part I'll get 19.

I'd bet real world unloaded all highway miles, flat ground @ 70MPH will yeild around 20MPG. That's pretty damn good for having 420lb ft on tap from 2500rpm up!

Nice truck!! The mileage towing is not too good though. Ford has some really impressive products lately. How about the Focus Hybrid that get 41 city? The money you save on gas helps makes the car payment. Same could be said about the Ecoboost truck. Drive 15000 miles a year 15 mpg vs 25 mpg will save you $1600 a year in gas at $4 gal. That is lot of money to give to the oil companies. Using that same math convinced my wife to buy a Hybrid that gets 37 city. Her old car was 19 MPG.
