    Any body know about mercury jet boat motors

    I have a very close friend wanting me to find out about a motor in a little sea doo type boat its a 1998 model he says v6 with a un painted block any idea what it is from that information oh i forgot to say he said its a carb motor i'm thinking 200 promax do to the unpainted block

    I don't know of any of the having an unpainted block, most of them were stock fish type powerheads with different splines in the crank. It's possible someone built a performance motor with a sportjet crank in it...... or it could be one I never saw... also, they didn't make a 200 carbed sporttet...onle the 200 DFI Sportjet. The carbed is either a 175, 210 or 240.

    Not necessarily. The outboard cranks have different splines from a sportjet...... it's possible to put a sportjet crank into an outboard motor so long as they are the same comfiguration. If the powerhead is not mounted right now, then yes, it may have the wrong splines for it to fit.

    Ok. Found out it isn't the original motor and the splines are like a,normal out board. But still not sure what the engine is

    Its a promax. I had one and it was the same casting as the promax.
