What causes to much water pressure on a 2.5 200 efi?

I am getting around 30psi on the water pressure gauge. I have been told that this is way high. What would cause this? Thanks Mike

Several ways for too much water pressure...
    1. Poppet issues
    2. Restriction of spent water leaving the block ( pebbles , wood, dried aquatic material in block or cross over area at divider plate )
    3. Head gasket ( If your water pressure is pulsing and pegging your gauge high pressure compression is entering the low pressure water system )

    Good luck,
    Jay

Where the water goes out of the poppet and into the mid there is a small hole that can be cloged by a perriwinkel....small shelled salt water critter. Had them jam shift locks too......I have seen salt dry and clog the poppet to..... but not on latter motors that have water piped to the outter side of the poppet.

Would the compression be low if it is the head gasket?

Yes the suspect hole would be down considerable in cranking compression...
