Evinrude 150 ho or evinrude 175 or mercury 150 pro xs

    Hello everybody

I am turning around it a bunch of time and I don't have any logic answer comming to my mind

which is the best for a guy like me

I own a Hydrostream Valero 1985 new floor, transom, strigner.

Now I want a good engine for daily drive and I will go with a brand new one
    here are my choices
    evinrude e tec 150 ho
    mercury pro xs 150
    evinrude e tec 175

which one will give me top speed, fuel economy, reliability and every dollars spent will be the best
The only difference between kid and adult, it's their toy size !

I'll take a stab at it. The 150 pro is a great engine everyone that has bought loves it. bang for the buck would be a 175 pro xs. last one we dynoed was 192 hp at the prop. i have never ran an etec so i have no opionion there. i work for a merc dealer so i am a little bias.for your application you will always have the option of a sporty for that all out performance .

I would also go for the merc 175XS Fuel econ is unbelievable, and its a strong motor.

I like the looks, technology and idea of the 150HO...but as others have said, the 175 Pro XS will be the winner all-round in this bunch...

85 to low 90s depending on setup, use, carried weight and prop selection.

You'd need a nose cone and a high engine height to go as fast as Mr Tiger suggests. The factory reps I've talked to tell me that neither BRP nor Merc will honor the warranty if you add a nose cone. Buying Merc gives you the option of adding a Sportmaster and keeping your warranty. With a jackplate and a prop change you could be pulling skiiers and then going 85+.

Thanks for your advice, once my stuff is rigget, I will post pictures of that demon, I live in Canada, but I will part of your group for a run river if it's not about 12-15 hours of driving, I am a fan of those boats and I want to have the fastest boat in my region. if what you are telling me is true, in my place, i'll be freak !! Considering I have a V buttom what would be the best riging, and it's not a matter of money, engine height, setback, prop I am a new member and new owner, I bought the boat last september and I want it to be Terrific !!!! bud damn god, with a 110hp VRO I was doing maximum 50 mph, no jack plate, 19 pitch aluminum propeller, the difference of 30 mph is unbelivable !

with David. For that i would go with the Mercury just for the fact the sportmaster is available for it.

Actually Bud if you research BRP they WILL NOT DENY YOUR WARRANTY FOR A TRUE LWP, the Ski Race guys add them all the time, its in the warranty......Go 150 HO it puts out 181hp at the prop and regulary sticks it to the 175 Pro XS on bass boats.....Seriously.....
