Lake Talquin, Tallahassee Fl. Does anyone know if this lake is Hot Boat friendly ????
Looking at some property on Lake Talquin. And not being from the Tallahassee area, was wondering if this was a Jet / V-drive tollerant lake. I have not read anything in here about this lake and was hoping someone here may know.
Thanks

I don't think Lake Talquin is very hot boat friendly. Lot of nature people from tallahassee like to canoe and kayak out there. I live on Lake Seminole about forty miles north and there is plenty of places up here to run. The lake is made from two rivers that come together so there is no shortage of places to go and the cops don't mess with you. Most people hang out in Bainbridge on the river just north of Tallahassee on 27. They just got a new mega ramp park and there are alot of sandbars here to hangout on. http://bainbridgega.com/news/publish/092910ramps.shtml
We also have boat racing here and in Quincy just south of the dam. Drag racing and roundy round boats. Let me know if you ever come up to this area and we can ride. You going to Lake Kerr this year?

I wondered about that, most of what I have read was just as you say, Kayak and canoe. Do you know of any acreage up in your area ? Ideal property would be an acre or so with an old single wide. Looking for property with utilities already existing. I will do some searching in your area.
Thanks, Oh ya, we are planning on Lake Kerr. Have you heard any dates ?

We have a squirter so stumps are not an issue. The area we are looking at is on the South end just above the dam. It looks like the depth is 68' all year long according to the info I could find. I thought this would be the deepest end of the lake. The North end looks like it has more hazards. We just wondered about noise etc. We did not see any signs prohibiting motors over 5 HP like some fishing lakes but also did not see or hear any Hot Boats. Are there any of the high speed bass boats on the lake ?? Looks like there are several boat ramps. Any theft or vandalism issues ??
Are you running a V-drive ??

Hey antioch, where do you hangout now?I've been to the thonontassa[sp]pond a few times.Usually just because its close and I want to get on the water.Mostly we go over to St.Johns though. We are planning the gig in June if we havent missed out on a cabin.

We are close to Thonotasassa also and we go there alot, usually during the work days when it is not so crowded. The last few weeks it has been standing room only. We usually put in on the creek. I think all the cabins are gone for Lake Kerr. Always a chance for a cancelation though if you get on the list. If not come over for the day. We will be there Wed through Sunday. RV spot 22.
Hope to see you there,
