    Cougar 2003 22MTR Rebirth

    Larry
The best I saw with the and my 300X was 92 mph on the GPS speedo at about 6,400rpms with my worked Mazco RE4 30". That was with all the stereo gear in the boat which 200+lbs with a light load of fuel and a little ripple on the water. The prop was worked to add a little stern lift as well as bow lift. I had 20+ lbs pounds of water pressure so I wasn't running very high. I think there still more there with a experimenting but never got around to it. I mounted the motor in the bottom holes on the jackplate, so I could get more height than I needed. It was a very easy boat to dive even at 85+mph. I am sure with so playing you should be able to better my top speed. I give you a call this evening. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
    Thanks
    Gary

With the Mercury ProET 28 I was able to raise the engine to abot 1.5 inch above the pad worked the best. Smartcraft showed 6250rpm and.....

    94mph

Don't think there's more there with that prop and that was with over 25gal of fuel! Happy is an understatement on how this boat drives and handles. Will get some video soon

That 22' MTR is one sharp boat and as a former Cougar owner, it comes as no surprise that it handles well. Perhaps I'll see it on the water this summer!

I guess you won't need to try my 24 Trophy Plus. I am glad it is running so good and so easy.

With all the turns at Raystown I needed something that could turn better. If the props around would like to try it then.

Really nice looking Cougar you got into! That was the only other boat I was considering at the time I purchased my Trick. I've heard really good things about them. I had a 22 Talon, and wouldn't go that route again. I'm really enjoying my trick, but if I ever get tired of having to constantly be on my game to drive it, I would definetly look into one of these Cougars as a much more docile boat to drive. I'd love to hear your feedback on the pros/cons of the two boats (Skater 21 vs Cougar 22). I could definetly give a rundown of the differences of the Trick 21 vs the Talon 22.
