How much did you shorten the tube on the Rev4 and how did it effect the performance. Been thinking about trying that on my Fountain fish boat.

    Hi!

I shortened the tube as much as 30 mm. The local prop guy here did it. He is local, but has a very good international reputation. www.winrace.no.

The prop carries the bow much more. The boat tracked a little better before, especially in crosswind, cross seas, etc. Top speed increased with 1,5-2 mph.

Checked out a stock Bravo 1 26 prop yesterday. Good holeshot. Cruise speed at 4,000 (50 mph) and 5,000 (62 mph) rpms increased with 2 mph. But lost 3-4 mph at WOT. Prop tuning can maybe offset some of the speed loss, but it is not worth the work. The engine had a lower mpg with the Bravo 1 compared to Rev4, approx 10%.

Have you ever checked out Turbo TXP 3 bl props?

I do not really want to add more setback as the boat sits low when idle, and the balance is good now in high seas. With the Rev4 I use zero positive trim at 62 mph, and just a tick up at wot. So the angle of attack is great. I am checking out props that can be run higher. The Bravo 1 can be run higher, but lacks bowlift. So that did not work out.

    Cheeers, Toffen
