The hose length is a good question. Adels not mounted yet. They might not be needed at all. Once I get the jackplate on I will decide on final length.

Ahh yes, when I put my Magoo glasses on I see there is no screw holding the clamps, good I do not have to feel bad because they were upside down.
On mine after four years of use the pipe thread on the elbow in the LU loosened a bit and my last outing the hose got down into the water at speed. This restricted waterflow to the pump. No damage was done, I had run a few minutes before seeing the low pressure. But I have now added a clamp just forward of the fitting at the LU as a strain relief so the hose will stay as you originally intend it to be.
You will probably want a sleeve over a portion of the braid so it will not scuff the transom. That hose will not take long to leave it's mark.

    Charlie North

I like the idea of running this type of low water pickup, but without the nose cone on the LU, what about blow out? I'm running an OMC 200 on an 18' pad v style hull (Charger SK), with the propshaft about 1" below the pad, with a stock lower with the top 2 holes on each side filled in. I'm getting 82 mph when all the conditions are right. Trying to lift the engine higher drops my water pressure from about 20 psi to less than 10 psi. If I hook up a transom mount system, and get my motor higher, am I risking loosing steering control?

Here's a shot of my rig.. don't mind the helmet, it was October and the helmet was keeping me warm

I run a nosecone even with the pickup bu just because I almost run like a three point hydro. Back of the two sponsons and the botto of the bullet. The longer bullet gives me more tail lift. At top speed I have nothing but skeg in the water.

I have no experience with these pickups on a V or pad bottom boat.

The concern I would have with a pickup ike this is disturbing the water right in front of the prop.

I made a modification to my low water pickups. I added the "spray plate" to prevent water from shooting up the transom. It seems to work.

All good stuff. I am thinking about doing this on my current project boat w 300xs motors. I saw that someone hadnplumbed a LWPU to the hose flush port. I don’t completely understand the water path on these engines, but a little concerned if I did that, when the impeller is providing water at idle, that the water would flow backwards through the LWPU and not be cooling the power head. Am I concerned for no good reason?
