Saw Charlie last summer at the Reunion. He faught some health issues, looking good then. Had the pleasurer of a crab feast with him and his racing partner Mike summer of '13.
Don't blame Charlie for the centerpunch, stuff happens when racing. Not his fault I crossed in front of him on my side. I should have backed off and didn't. Oh well.

-in your defense somewhat....sitting in the pits (because of the big flag with strips told me to go in) watching you go around I must admit though from my vantage point that the flare did seem to go behind you and that you probably weren't able to see it....
ps- the video is awesome- thanks for sharingLast edited by shadowcat; 08-23-2014 at 06:43 PM.

I've know Bill for several decades, watched him race and raced against him a few times. I've never seen him do anything to hurt another driver, hurt the sport or disobey an offical. I would bet $100 against a penny that it was the flag person's crew up and not Bill = I wasn't there but I know Bill.

As the LEAST expierienced driver at Clayton, The flags could have been moved to a more visible spot, the water in that "heat" was not the smoothest of the weekend , just before going out the drivers in that "heat" were told they may get extra laps to run. Bill was not out there chasing himself around the course under a black flag. ( with a cross on it? ) I don't think any other "heat" required a flare to show the drivers when to return to the pits. Rules are rules and they were broken. Now, I have known Bill for 51 years (birth) and I would not throw him under the bus for anything. All that aside, it was THE most entertaining "demonstration " of the weekend. I am sorry Roger and Rich, you came in a VERY close second with your wings. I apologize for being long-winded. My father says I get that from my mother.

Hey Ray,
Check for $100.00 in the mail. Think a penny to a dollar equals $10,000. Prefer cash.
Yep, Bill and Mark screwed up, nobody is or was upset. They paid their penalty not running in the afternoon and their dunce cap flag explanation Sunday morning, all in fun.
A checkered flag was displayed Sunday at end of laps prior to black flag. Both understand the checker.

I'll take that bet- don't use pennys in Canada any more so I will have to send a nickel-clayton was a blast and watching Bill and Mark go around paid the price of admission 5 times over and provided the most entertaining sunday morning drivers meeting ...and the guys were good sports......Ted
