You may want to contact the Allison Factory.
They build a transom "replacement" that matches the transom they put in all their production boats..... It will never give you a problem EVER..... and it will be better than new!!!
I don't know what it would cost?

We took dad's '86 XTB 21 out to them a month or so ago to have it brought back to life. The transom was in good shape & didn't have to mess with it. We turned the boat over & fixed the bottom, they are fixing the scratches on the upper deck, new trim, new carpet, new pinstriping...... It will be better than new when we pick it up. I took before pics and will take after pics later..... We plan on fishing in the boat for a very long time. Darris and Nancy have some very talented people working for them & they take pride in their workmanship/craftsmanship. It is amazing to watch them work their "magic".
    Thanks,
    Tim Bostic

The older Allisons had wood transoms although the rest of the boats were composite. The transom in our '86 model XTB 21 (bought used a year ago & it was abused by original owner) was sealed and in great shape. My '87 XB2002 bass boat (bought new) has always been sealed & in great shape. I purchased an '85 XR2002 race boat from Randy (BigTis) about a year ago that had a bad transom with a bunch of holes in it that were NOT sealed very well & it will have to be replaced.
Allison changed to an aluminum/composite sandwiched core transom around '89, I think? We saw the construction details of the transom at the factory and Darris said they could replace the older transoms & bring the boats back to life. With that update, the boat should last forever, if taken care of? I keep my '87 in the garage with a custom cover on it........ and it looks almost as good as the day I bought it.... not bad for a 23 year old boat..... the bottom is blueprinted and in perfect condition..... the carpet is alittle stiff & compacted.... the seats are in great shape. The only things I would have to fix in the future would be update the transom, new carpet kit, new upholstry??? I have had several different size Merc's on the boat over the years.
When we were at the factory a month ago, as far as watching them do their "magic", I saw a couple of boats that were damaged before they started fixing them..... BAD damage...... then a few days later, could not even tell anything had been fixed & I knew exactly where to look.... Just Amazing glass work.
We can't wait to pick up the XTB 21 & see what the difference is.... I'll have before & after photos if anyone would be interested to see what "magic" looks like?
    Thanks,
    Tim Bostic
