I have been modifying Yamaha motors for 25 years now. There are a few that are still running with out being rebuilt for that long. They have been propped to turn 6000 or so. Some have had the limiter removed and been propped to turn 6400-6800 on those good days when light.
The limiter kicks in instantly when hooked up. In drag race form, turning 9000 or so is not unusual.
I don't know your Dutch friends, but I personally belive they are full of s**t and don't have a clue what they are talking about.
Belive what you want and who you want, but you have become insulting and demanding of people who do know and have tried to tell you what their experience relates. They are under no obligation to try to answer your questions.

OK, you made your point guys... As I'm turning 6000rpm it only eats fuel and not the pistons by the wrist pins

No. Prop it to 5800+ to make it live as long as possible between rebuilds.

I found some more info on the riscs of overpropping your engine... seems to be worse compared to underpropping as there is no warning.
full load at too low rpm leads to detonation.

Drive the sh*t out of it I turned mine to 7000 too often and never was easy on it and it stayed together for five years of my foot not to mention it was used and on a hydrostream when I got it. So no tellin how it was treated prior to me getting it. And I ran Walmart oil mixed 50to1 and regular gas with ethanol

i need to run 89 octain or higher to stay out of the knock sensor.. it runs like crap on regular..and is noticeably faster on premium..

The Excell does require premium fuel to stay off the knock sensor. Otherwise it cuts the timing way back to prevent detonation. Not a knock sensor on the 200 or Pro V 200 since the motor was not designed to need premium to live.

I have a Yamaha 200 on my Venus. When I prop it to run 6000, it actually runs better at all points throughout the rpm range. If I know I'm going on a long run, where I won't be running WFO for any extended period of time, I will prop it up a little to bring the cruise rpm down. I only do this with a light load. It helps with mileage.

I agree that loading the engine too much will drive it into detonation. I have a Laser II, 23 pitch that puts mine right at 6000, maybe 6100. The bottom end is great, it pulls skiers like a champ.

That Yamaha has been such a good runner that I'm thinking of pulling it and selling the boat without a motor. I really want to put it on a deck boat.

I would listen to the Yamaha guys on here. I have gotten a lot of really good info from them. Do what has worked for people who have "done", not from someone who has "heard".
