Yamaha may say throw the block away, but they say the same thing in the motorcycle/atv industry, but there are many places that repair those blocks for less than a new one.

The whole reason we have all these overly complex, heavy, incredibly expensive engines is because of the government wanting to protect us from ourselves by forcing manufacturers with stricter and stricter regulation to develop these so called "green" engines under the guise boaters are/were a major contributor to pollution. In the end, the consumer, not the government pays the price.
They can keep all of them, I will continue to find and fix used two stroke stuff, there is enough of it around to last a while.'97 Allison XR2001rr / 2.5 Merc
