where do i get started diagnosing trailer brakes?
i have surge/drum brakes on my formula trailer. im pretty sure they arent working. I have no clue where to start. I think the cylinder (or whatever its called) is bad. Seems that the tongue goes in way more easy than it should when stopping....

First check the brake fluid level, should be full, if not your leaking somewhere. Attatch the stinger and ball to the trailer to use it to bleed the brakes. If it's full check the (drum) adjustment. Other wise the Master cylinder is bad(Bypassing)

TAKE THE TRAILER OUT AND HIT THE BRAKES THEN PULL THE WHEELS ON THE BRAKE AXLE AND SEE IF THE SHOES OR PADS ARE TOUCHING IF SHINY AND SMOOTH THEY ARE PROBABLY WORKING AND MAY JUST NEED TO BE ADJUSTED. IF RUSTY DEFINATELY NOT WORKING. OTHER WISE AS SAID BY gfinch HOPE THAT HELPS.
