    496 mercruiser

i have replaced the impeller in the raw waterpump and now the engine wont pump water.it was ok before i did this.it seems to be getting water all the way to the heat exchanger.when i pull the hoses from the exchanger to the exhaust manifolds it pumps water but as soon as i do the clamps up its stops.
any help or ideas would be much appreciated..

Was the old impeller missing any blades? If so they are most likely stuck somewhere.

Did you replace just the impeller or the whole kit? Did you use OEM parts?
