OMC looper 225 vs 250 What's the difference
Hi.
Just retired the old 235 (got water in one cylinder) and purchased a overhauled 1997 Johnson 225 Venom for my old Concord. I know there was a 250 hp version on the same 3.0 litre block. Anybody know what the difference is between 225 and 250 versions? Would like to upgrade if this is not too expensive.Hal

A 225 venom is pushing close to 250 already.

Larger exhaust port and smaller idle relief opening.

Thanks guys:-) Is the "idle relief opening" the same as "compression relief opening"? Sounds like a little handiwork would do the trick w/o buying any parts. I suppose i would need to re-jet the carbs too? Btw, I have heard about removal of the airbox on these motors, but not how much power it will make. Is it worth it? Will put the motor on tomorrow. Waiting for a 26" Raker II prop from e-bay and hoping for 70mph with the stock motor.

Yes its the same. If you plug it you will need to rejet. I would leave the airbox alone.
