I also would like to know where to get the carb scoops. The intake sits pretty low, and I was thinking if I buy it, I will throw on a 2" spacer, and a fiberglass scoop.

Be dang sure the casale v drive is in good cond.
Check the oil in v drive for water,if it has water in oil(Milky) plan on going threw the drive.
Parts are a sob to get,Bergeron engineering in AZ. are very good people on v-drives.
Alot of them start in gear, some have a trans and some are able to shift in and out only.

get the sereal#from the case if you can, call casale, they will be able to tell you anything you need to know & can sell you parts, they are very simple to work on when needed. some cases are water cooled with waterjackets . another important bit is does it have a whirlaway? makes unit much safer if a motor quits while at speed. carb scoops are available at many custom marine outlets .

Sweet, I'll check in to all this.

thanks guys! Tomorrow, I am going to try to look at the v drive. I hope they are not as much of a PITA as I/O stern drive. Last one I had was a joke.

This v drive used to have a blown BB, but now only has a mild 350. he claims it might hit 70mph, but I doubt it.

I can always, sell my car stuff, and get a real motor in it too.

If it was ever set up right for the big engine it has more gear than the small block can pull.

Okay, I don't know if this is bad, but here is what I found out on the drive:

"I don't know what a whirlaway is so i guess it doesn't have one. There is water nipples on the trans but not hooked up. It is a Casale 10 degree PAT #3154047"

Is it bad the thing waas not hooked up to water. Another guy told me if it is not hooked up, hook it up.

post a pic of the box, whirlaway uses a locking shift handle with detents for in & out. you also need to make sure that the internal waterjacket hasnt been cut away inside the case, some do this to run bigger than 40 gears for clearance,v drive units can generate some heat, so for long boatrides water cooling helps but not needed for dragboats. also 10 degree is good , alot of gears avail.what kind of hull? pics would help alot!

I think you should pass on that one, missing lots of propper gear. There are some killer deals out there, for some nice boats.
