    Laveycraft 20.8 Sebring production

    Hey everyone!!

In the past few years I have seen a pretty good interest in Lavey producing their 20.8 again. I personally love the boat and would really like to see it back in production! But I don't own the company so I can't put it back in production, but with enough public demand I'm sure it could happen.
With all the things they do now compared to "back in the day" such as lamination, set-up, and various other things it would be a really fast and fun boat. Lavey could laminate it with full carbon/kevlar, foam core, and vacuum bag making it a lighter and much stronger hull. And as we all know with these little boats, less weight=more speed
Along with their amazing gel coat schemes it would be one sweet package!

So lets see, who out there agrees and would be interested?

I spoke to factory years ago about refurbing my boat. It sounded like they'd make you a hull if you wanted....not out of production. might have to rig yourself though.

    Hello all!!

I am bringing this thread back from the dead! Lately I've been speaking with the Lavey factory, now named Lavey Craft Motorsports, and they are undergoing a lot of awesome changes and this is one topic that has been brought up often! I would love to build one of my own and hopefully I can fairly soon!

Definitely a cool boat. My buddy has one and we are doing a transom and floor in it now (hydro_scrm3). Not the fastest design but still a lot of potential. Good cockpit size, rides good for its size, ski's pretty good, tows behind a smaller truck/SUV. I personally love the look. The dash even makes it a candidate for left or right steering

Are you talking about the 22' 10" with the acrylic windscreen?

    here it is....
    http://www.screamandfly.com/showthre...make-it-better

I like the 20.2 & would like a 20.8, but I have a family and wonder how much more room does the 22.10 have inside.

question....is the bottom common any of these and top part of mold with extended swim platform make it longer?
    Best regards,
    David

From what hat ive been told by Chris at Lavey... They all do share the same style of mod v bottom. The 20.2 and 20.8 are closer in similarly but the 22.10 really doesn't run as good as the other two. It's slower and does require adjustable trim tabs to get on plane. As many people know with a tunnel boat, especially a smaller boat, if you happen to forget to bring the tabs up or even keep them down a tad too much it will cause negative handling even potentially dangerous outcome...

If they brought it back I would like to see them do something with the nose to help eleviate the amount of splash you get in the face when in moderate chop. That, a larger ski compartment, and less weight are my only complaints. Has anyone seen the open bow version of the 20.8?

Interesting, I haven't seen a problem with the spray. hydro_scrm3 boat is getting more setback so perhaps we will see this? Not sure they could do anything with the ski locker, as it's really just the center sponson-perhaps eliminate the built in cooler in front of it? Any idea what yours weighs?

Ok let me rephrase that. Moderate chop is ok. It's when the nose comes down on the bigger wakeboard boat size waves that I get splashed. The ski locker opening isn't long enough for me to get slalom skis in with the new competition style boots so I wind up throwing them up in the bow along with all my gear. Then I have subs and all up front too. But I think the short sponsons and long pointed nose are a contributing factor because I had all the same stuff in the bow of my HST when I had it and I never got wet.

I recently purchased the Sebring 20.8 Open Bow that was featured in the 1997 October issue of Hot Boat Magazine. I am in the process of restoring the boat, and making a few upgrades. It is now running a GM 502 stroked to a 540 producing 605.9 HP at 5300 rpm. Once the boat is all back together, I am sending a 30P Bravo 1 to BBlades to have it labbed. Last summer I took it out a couple of times to just get a feel for it before I started the restoration. It will run 77 mph on GPS with the stock 26P, not sure of the rpm due to the fact that it broke after tapping on the Tach too hard. I have since purchased a complete new Livorsi gauge pack. My concern is that this is going to be a family boat, and I don't want to endanger them or anyone else that I might have the pleasure to take out. From my understanding that once you start running 80+ MPH you need to upgrade your steering. The question is... Does anyone know of any integrated transom steering systems that I can get installed without having to cut or modify the swim steps? Any and all recommendations are greatly appreciated.
