I spoke with Mike Mullins about a year ago about popping mine and making some changes. We both just got busy but I am going to strip mine down in the near future for a little cosmetic work so Ill reach out to him again at that time.
This boat could be made a little more modern and built inexpensively. Sold as a bare hull and super easy to rig. Slap 70 hp Yamaha and run 60mph or someting like mine and run 100mph. Add a little length and you could enjoy the torque of a V6 and it would be a blast.13' Biel tunnel AKA "Flight Risk"

For me one of these would be my perfect boat, it would fit in my garage and straight onto my trailer. easy enough for one person to move around.
and also quick enough to play with the big boys. have enough room to seat 4 people. absolute perfect for me.
I would love to see what one of these goes like in a bit of rough water, its ok watching it on the calm mirror lakes, but what about the sea ?

It runs very well in tight white capped chop but there is no "in between". Either the chop is tight enough to run across it at 75mph or your off plane getting your ass kicked. Its just too short when the spacing increases. Also doesnt like rollers/wakes head on.
At 13 minutes in this video youll see my buddy come by in his T3 and smoke me then I pass him in the lake when it gets snotty.

Seems like i remember reading somewhere that these 13ft Biel tunnels are a shrunk down copy of the Ron Jones 20ft boat. Sure looks like one and i love it. What a great idea. My bud (Lake Trash) has a 20ft Jones and we hung twin Merc 225 ProMax`s on it. The boat handles the weight really well and tops out at 105 with 28`s on CLE`s but i know there is more to be had with bigger props. Like the Biel the Jones boat is heavy but i belive this is what makes it work. Rough water is no problem and i have floated the nose at speed and there was no hint of trouble.
I guess if you go in between the 20 and 13 with a 15ft the results should be the same as long qas they are built heavy. I don`t think it would be a good idea to build them light.

Rereading this old thread was enjoying. Updates on Lake Trashes 20 Jones is NO center pod. It didn`t work as well as the full tunnel so it was removed. Dennis still wanted it to be an easy driver and somewhat user friendly so he added a moveable hydraulic tab behind the tunnel and that was the key. This boat absolutely loves rough water so the Biel comes by it naturally.
Watching your vid reminds me of a vid from an offshore boat in a race. Cool!
Any news on the 15ft boat?Last edited by Da Bull; 09-09-2019 at 11:23 AM.

I sure would love to see a 15' version of this hull! Just big enough to carry a V6 Merc a little easier and a touch more room as well..
I'd love to see the drawings they came up with and how far they got with the idea..

Well I guess this as good a time as any to leak this out on this older thread; As most of you know I've gone back into production on the 13 footer and will be focusing on this project the next few months. However, there is a 15 foot plus model well beyond the drawing phase, in fact the hull plug is nearly complete and I'm currently working on the deck design in a model format. I should have some type of photo or drawing of the overall look in the next couple months. If any of you have more interest in some of the details feel free to private message me.
Thanks to all!
