Totally new to Jet Boats, many questions

Got my first Jet Boat, it's a BAJA Sport 200, with 454 chevy, and Berkley 12 JF pump. It needs new interior, and some general TLC, but is in good shape overall. The biggest problem is that the boat has no holeshot at all. It seems as if the reverse cup is not opening all the way, or maybee the impeller/wear ring gap is to big and the pump is not building good pressure. I would guess it is that due to the neglect the rest of the boat seems to have had by the last owner. It also seems to be cavitating on takeoff, but that may also be the impeller gap. Once it gets up and running 20 mph or so it goes pretty good, and shoots an ok rooster tail with the diverter up. Any help would be great! Thanks, Rick
