2006 225 Optimax,need a bit more hp.
I have a 225 opti it has maybe 20hrs now on a factory replaced block.Motor runs stong,im just wanting a bit more.THis is a standard optimax with the 5750 limiter.
My thoughts are:
Carbon fiber reeds(more for safety then performance)8
Some 3/8" holes in the air box.
Simon ECU as well as Flywheel,im not sure if that is a different program on this motor or simply a raised limiter.Im hopeing the program is changed,so there is more actual hp.
Ive replaced all fuel lines with new eythonal freindly lines.
Im not sure what other options are,Im used to running 2.5's.Thes DFI motors are all new to me.The motor pushes my 22' Velocity to 70.3 with 25p trophy at 5750 on the limiter.I Have maybe a couple more mph left in with getting the getting teh right prop.I just would like to get this closer to a 250.
Any ideas?

Simon sells the ecu reflash and you change the fuel pressure spring in the vst bumps it to 250 plus a higher limiter, check it out.

Talked to Eric the other day and asked him about. He said not to do worry bout it,that it would be crisper throttle response without the spring.

Not yet.I will be installing tonight.I have CCM reeds as well to install.I was hitting the limiter with a 25p trohy so in theory there should be a bit more speed.I did the reeds more less as a safety for running the higher rpms when cruisin around.Id like to be able to pull a 26p to the same rpm,but the reality is that probably won't happen.I also here the 225xs or 250xs may have a lighter pulley. On the air pump I may look into.Hope to have here in the water in the morning.

I did ecu and fly on my 250 xs and gained 3 mph and more midrange. But with higher rev limit i can try diff props now. My hole shot seemed better because it wasnt hitting limiter.

How about some pictures or video of that thing running this weekend? I know you'll have a camera guy there this weekend.
If you weren't so far away, I'd let you try a couple of Tempest Plus props. They pick my boat up a lot better that the others I have tried. Ax
Silverbullet02 how the acceleration is on my old tub.

This just in.........................Not worth it to do on a heavier boat IMO..Only advantage I can see is being able to prop down and spin a bit more rpm.I dont see any speed fiffernce at all.I will say on my Allison I was able to see a difference with the higher rev limit on the 225x.On this 225 optimax same prop, same height, same every thing the boat is not faster,or quicker at all..Im actually preety dissapointed.I was hopeing for something even if it was just a bit.
