I had one nice sport boat. On the heavy side, got 71MPH out of it with a 200 on it.

The Enchanters are nice boats, but as with any 25 year old boat you should check carefully for condition of transom and any other wood structure. Repairs could be TREMENDOUSLY expensive. The speed claims in the ad are ridiculous. Also, the old 3.4 300's, although reliable when used as a workhorse type engine, don't make good high perf engines, and parts are expens$ive and hard to find other than seeking used stuff on the internet. In any case, that boat with that engine ain't even close to runnin' mid 80's unless he was pullin' it down the interstate on a trailer.

I had an 87 with a stock 200 merc. It ran 67 and was not an optimal setup. I really liked the fact that it could run through a decent chop and not beat you to death.

My brother-in-law has had an '82 Enchanter since 1985. Still in good shape and still a good-looking boat. He has the original 235 Evinrude (no jack plate) and gets low 70's. Handles well at high speeds, has a hugh cockpit and easily seats 5 - 6. Trim tabs to keep the bow down at mid-range cruising in chop would be a plus. Overall, it's been a great boat for him and his family over the years.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.
