looks like a thru hub exhaust cleaver. Once the archived threads are able to be found again run a search for set up, im sure you will find some good info on props and engine height and setback. I would start with a trophy as i dont know that the cleaver will do you much good.

Thanks Charger, the prop has a long number on it and at the end has 21P, what does that actually mean?

    Thanks in advance for inputs!

means its a 21 pitch. Does the lower unit have a low water pickup? looks like a stock unit? I dont know what your performance needs are but if you are wanting to see peak performance outta this unit you will want to get a sportsmaster gearcase or a nose cone added. Beautiful boat by the way, love the look of velocity's

Yea that is a old style prop. I think you need to run a 26p or 28p round ear. Your gonna have some fun with that boat.(i would...................). Looks like you have a 300 promax and probably a 1.62-1 gear in that lower unit. I think if you can find some props in the 24,26,28p range that will run high make sure if you start raising that motor for a little more speed you keep a close eye on the water pressure. Does it have a kill switch? And what kind of throttle. I dont know if they put foot throttles in those. Try a chopper if you get the chance. And a trophy would probably work well too. Thats a bad boy you got there.

Thanks much guys, Yes it is a 300x Promax, It doesn't have low water pick up, I don't know gear ratio on the lower, It has a foot throttle, that's pretty cool!! Not sure about the kill switch though, But for now I would like to try other Props to get as much as possible, I will use it as is for this season. I will try probably for next season either a Sport Master or a nose cone. I'll try to find out who has spare props around here to do some testing.

    THX!!!

a kill switch is something like on a jetski you clip a short lanyard on yourself and it clips to a switch on the dash and if you get thrown out it will shut down the motor

i wonder if you put a nose cone on there, if surfacing it is hard on the bearing carrier. or it maybe a hd type made to take that stress.

Aaron it was really nice meeting you today, let hope for better weather later on. THX

    Hey

I wouldnt worry about spending money on a sportmaster yet. If you have a fleet or torquemaster with the four holes in the bullit (stock low water pickup) just plug the top four water intake holes on the sides of your lower. You have a step in the hull so you can run the motor pretty high. Watch your water pressure. Start reading the Velocity thread that is on this forum. There is a ton of information on set up and what works and doesnt. Work on setup before you start throwing money at her. You need to know your gear ratio to make an educated prop guess. Could be 1:62 or 1:75, makes a diff. Get a Tropy plus somewhere in the 26p-27p range. Have a great time.

Thanks for the input Vnemous, it actually doesn't have the four holes in the bullit (stock low water pickup), do you think that's a plus to get a good set up? Is there is a way to know the gear ratio other than removing the lower? I'm afraid not.

Yes you can count the revolutions of the prop vrs flywheel. That will tell you your ratio. You will have to get a nosecone with a lwp if you want to raise your engine. Again it all depends on your water pressure. Get this gauge if you dont already have one. The nose cone is a trade off. You have to raise the motor higher to go faster so you need a lwp but when you add the nose cone to your lower it increases the drag in the water but this is offset by raising your motor. Nose cone from Bobs or one of the other vendors on here is much less money than a sportsmaster which you probably are not gonna run fast enough to benefit from.
