I have had many lengthy conversations with Ron @ Imco on this subject and have had plans to install 12V / Hyd Verado pump on Imco system ,but decided not , you need and open center helm , not Capilano . Ron and I agree that an option and very rarely used is to plumb looping both bottoms of rams together with fluid only and plumb top of rams to helm only , this way I can use a higher CC helm = 3 turn lock to lock and not as hard as conv way to plumb . Hydrive has been plumbing this way for years ( very high end systems )

OK, have the Sea Star PA1200's installed and not working a well as expected. it seems the more effort you put into turning the wheel the easier it gets but it is not "automotive style comfort" as advertised.
any one out there installed these as a pair before? can you turn them with "two fingers" like I was told before i bought them? Your help is appreciated.

    PA1200s

I was very disappointed. VERY slight improvement over the manual Imco hydrolic system. we adjusted the Capo helm and it became very easy BUT it now takes about 8 turns lock to lock. I am now told that the Capolano helm is the problem but no one has made a helm that will make the PA1200s work. supposedly one is in the works but no build date yet.

Wow, that is good feedback and sorry to hear it. That is a lot of coin for subpar performance.

    sub par performance

Yes it is, about $4000.00 so far and still need a helm that has not been designed or made yet. Sea Star advertised car like performance, they just don't tell you it's like your car when the power steering goes out.

Sorry to hear that 81, I believe that system has a pretty heavy electrical draw as well, over 60 amps at peak?

the Electrical draw was / is not the problem. the problem is the helm doesn't have enough volume.

I have done a ton of research on this and have spoken to Ron @ Imco . Firts of all you need an open center helm like used on IO boats , you pick th CC and that along with ram Dia will determine number of turns lock to lock . I'm using a Verado pump , keep it simple why make it complicated ??

I had the dash cover milled out and added an adjustment knob so the helm can be adjusted on the fly. at high speed it is good turned full hard. When pulling skiers or around the docks I turn it softer 3 or 4 revolutions and it works OK, just takes more turns which is OK at slow speeds.
I may not mess with a helm at this point but the next boat would definetly have a full system on it before i would consider buying it.
